Monthly Record Rewind: February 2010 (Double Feature)
Both these albums are highly influencial, so i decided to run with both...
Heartbeat is the first release in the very early 80's from Chris and Cosey (now known as Carter Tutti aka CTI, the Creative Technology Institute) after leaving Throbbing Gristle. The majority of the album emulates solidly Throbbing Gristle's blueprint (resembling Twenty Jazz-Funk Greats found voices over pulsing synthesizers), while the rest is heavily synth-pop influenced, early industrial/EBM. My favorite track ("Useless Information") is a great example of the latter.
Trance's songs creep and crawl deliberately, oozing through stages, building into form finally, with finely executed monotony. The releases title really does say it all in one word. It's extremely morose and horrific, both in sound and lyrically. I'm of course much more particular to this album, but like i said they both are amazing.
Here's that track off Heartbeat I mentioned above...
