David Lynch 'Crazy Clown Time'

David Lynch. The man of a thousand interests. Director (feature films, shorts, television shows and commercials), painter, photographer, nightclub owner (Silencio, Paris, France), meditation advocate and ...musician? Yes. While it may come as a shock to many, it shouldn’t be surprising. After all, his films are extolled for their infallable sound design, and he has been collaborating with composer Angelo Badalamenti (whom i just learned last night lives in New Jersey) for years on the wonderful scores for works such as Dune, Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive. Also, He appeared on the 2009 Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse compilation album Dark Night of the Soul. Now he has turned his dark surrealistic reflection toward a full-length debut album of his own titled Crazy Clown Time, released Tuesday, November 8th. I've listened to most of the tracks (and watched the accompanying videos), and was left unhinged by it's heady mix of bluesy slide guitar (heavy reverb and delay), in the doldrums electronic ambiance, perverted further by the distorted effects on his vocals. It’s a extraordinary trip, probably one only the most devoted of his fans will be willing to embark on, but after all, it wouldn't be Lynch any other way.

Here's a link to an interview with David Lynch on Pitchfork.
