It's been quite a while since Bryan Black and Mr. No, aka Motor, have released any new material. Last I heard they were supporting Depeche Mode on their 2009 European tour. Well apparently they released Hyper Machine in February, and on Dim Mak records. Dim Mak? sounds suspect already...
Their sound hasn't changed much from Klunk and Unhuman... there are still loud metal guitar riffs and throbbing techno beats that have always defined their sound ... but something sounds bigger. The album falls somewhere in between Klunk (which is superior) and Unhuman which... meh.
The first single off Hyper Machine is "Kick It (ft. Steve Aoki)" and that is what is different. All ten tracks on this album stink like LA/NY/MIA trendy dance nonsense, and it all makes sense suddenly. exhaust!
Dim Mak? Truly the touch of death.
