Upon initially listening to Silversun Pickups, you'll immediately hear the overbearing influences of Smashing Pumpkin (Gish/Siamese Dream) & Slowdive, if not shoegaze in general, which are incorporated beautifully into all of their music. Their first album, Carnavas (released july 26, 2006), which is where i'm referencing mostly from (not a huge fane of the Pikul EP), rotates heavily on my ipod. if you are a close friend of mine, you are likely tired of hearing me rant and rave about them... and are also familiar with the fact that i rarely refer to anthing as "favorite." That said, this IS my favorite band at the moment.
I posted their new single, "Panic Switch," from their upcoming album, Swoon (which drops on April 14th, 2009),last week. Unfortunately, the label asked me to take it down, so for now listen to it on their Myspace page, or ask me...
Instead, here is their first single from Carnavas, called "Lazy Eye."
